Around various christian holidays here these boys start popping up. Most people I talk to about them seem to feel that they are not working from any kind of tradition, just dressing up to beg coins. I have only ever seen small numbers of them but apparently when en masse they will play in a brass band and do acrobatics.

It has also been suggested that the sewers of the costumes employ the boys. Is this similar to the man in a minty green crushed velour statue of liberty suit standing on the corner directing me to get my taxes done at a specific venue? Also very possible that the history of this is simply not well known and conjecture abounds.
