Osei-Duro was founded in 2011 by Maryanne Mathias and Molly Keogh. The company is based in Los Angeles, Vancouver, and Accra. We currently produce textiles and garments in Ghana, applying traditional techniques to simple contemporary designs. Our focus is online retail sales on our own website, and we also wholesale to boutiques worldwide. Our production is spread between many small dyehouses and sewers in Accra, as well as other artisans around Ghana. We believe that economic and environmental sustainability are intrinsically linked. Our in-house culture is one of openness and respect. All employees are treated as equals and all voices count.

PRODUCTION MANAGER
Reports to: Country Directior
Location: Accra, Ghana

General Summary
Osei-Duro’s production manager is a key role in the development of our business. Because we are a small company our production manager is involved in all aspects of what we do. From maintaining production schedules to generating vendor waybills to fabric buying to organizing samples with batikers, our production manager is dynamically involved in making everything happen. The production manager is well supported by experienced logistics, technical and QC managers, as well as a production assistant who answers to them. The manager is also supported by and answers to the Country Director who resides in Accra and has extensive experience managing production.
The manager should be someone who can learn on their feet and is comfortable multitasking. We are looking for someone who knows when to leave agency in the hands of others, promoting leadership amongst our team, and when to take initiative and solve things quickly on their own. The ideal candidate is someone who can identify places to improve existing systems and make executive decisions. The production manager should have both an aesthetic eye and a head for numbers, be both detail oriented and able to see the big picture, and should be familiar with international productions standards and procedures. We are looking for a production manager who is interested in sustainable fashion, who is familiar with the ethical questions around a foreign company producing sustainable fashion in Ghana, and who sees even their smallest decisions as relevant to building an equitable work environment and a better world.
It is our ultimate goal to hire a long term local production manager. If a foreign manger is hired, part of their job becomes to ultimately hire and train a local candidate to replace themself. We anticipate this process would begin no sooner than 6 months into the tenure of the foreign manager. A foreign manager would be given a 12-month minimum contract.
What you’ll do:
- Coordinate sample garment dyeing and sewing
- Fabric buying calculations and sourcing
- Notions consumption assessments, notions buying calculations, sourcing
- Communicate with fabric/notions vendors, advise all details of shipping, coordinate payment
- Attend pre-production meetings internal and externally
- Update and communicate production schedules for all vendors and internal parties
- Create and file waybills and payment receipts to and from all vendors
- Anticipate deposits and payments owed, coordinate funds for such payments
What you’ll bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field: Fashion Design, Merchandising, Product Development, etc. (this is preferred, but experience also accepted!)
- 2+ years experience in Production Management
- Knowledge of garment fit, grading, finishes, fabrications, techpacks
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe, email, Google Docs, Dropbox and Shopify
- Ability to safely lift boxes up to 35 lbs
- Ability to walk up and down stairs
- Comfortable living in Ghana with infrastructure challenges, high temps and humidity.

HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGERReports to: Country Director

General Summary
Osei-Duro’s Human Resources Manager is a new role. Previously the tasks have been split between several people, so part of the job will be to streamline all our HR systems and processes and help our entire team to understand how it works. Because we are a small company (currently 15 total employees) our HR Manager will not have anyone assisting them, but they will be well supported by the team members who have been doing HR tasks over the last few years. The HR Manager is responsible for recommending, creating, and administering Human Resources best practices, services, and programs that align with the company's values, strategic priorities, mission, and departmental mandates. We are looking for a candidate who can create policies and procedures which create a fair workplace, and who genuinely cares about the well-being of our employees. They should be able to resolve conflict and listen to employees' issues to ensure they feel heard. The HR Manager should be someone highly organized, who can learn on their feet and is comfortable multitasking. The ideal candidate has a head for numbers and will be both detail oriented and able to see the big picture. Experience in the fashion and textile industries is not necessary. We are looking for someone who sees even their smallest decisions as relevant to building an equitable work environment and a better world.
This is a salaried position based on a four day work week ((Monday to Thursday, 9am-5pm). Any hire for this position will have a three-month trial period with the expectation of a contract to follow. Ideal for us would be a two-year contract.
Some of what you’ll do:
- Advertise new positions and screen candidates for hiring
- Onboard new hires
- Administer employee benefits (savings schemes, health exams etc)
- Maintain individual employee records, contracts etc
- Develop and update policies and documents including handbooks, contracts, etc.
- Process payroll and record loans, savings and other financials
- Approve and record leave taking
- Participate in all annual performance reviews
- Intake and process any complaints around misconduct or other grievances, and mediate resolutions.
- Firing as needed, through due process
- Coordinate staff training and development events
- Identify training and enrichment needs, creating appropriate programs

CIRCULARITY COORDINATOR
Reports to: Country Director

General Summary
The role will take place in our new office, located near the Kanda Post Office. The coordinator will create and implement several new projects around the use of our scrap fabrics and offcuts, as well as continue with existing projects. The nature of this job is both physical and administrative, the ideal candidate would be comfortable rolling up their sleeves and getting dusty as well as confident crunching numbers and sending emails. Experience in the fashion and textile industries is not necessary, but it may be helpful. We are looking for someone for who environmental sustainability is a top priority, and who sees even their smallest decisions as relevant to building an equitable work environment and a better world.
This is a salaried position based on a four day work week ((Monday to Thursday, 9am-5pm). Any hire for this position will have a three-month trial period with the expectation of a contract to follow. Ideal for us would be a two-year contract.
Tasks in this position include:
- Coordinate moving our scraps inventory to the new office, as well as sourcing needed storage furniture etc for the scraps space.
- Manage the storage/management/inventory/usage of fabric scrap (off-cuts from production, as well as damaged fabrics).
- Liaise with artists and customers about shipping scraps (through our standing scraps offer online as well as on an as-needed basis), including providing cost quotes, coordinating payments etc.
- Develop and manage a project with the Yumba Special School and potentially Kayayei interns around making, photographing, and listing online Yumba rugs made from scraps.
- Cut squares of fabric for quilting bundles, photo, and list online.
- Liaise with Osei-Duro directors on other uses for the scraps.
- Liaise with Osei-Duro Shipping Team to have scraps shipped to appropriate parties.
- Manage the sorting and separating of scraps.
- Manage patchwork fabric production.

OFFICE CUSTODIANReports to: Logistics Manager

General Summary
Osei-Duro is in the process of moving into a large new office space and showroom, near the Kanda Post Office. This house is our new headquarters and will be the site of administrative work, research and development, meetings with vendors as well as a shopping space for customers. The entire space will reflect Osei-Duro’s values of openness and respect, with considered aesthetics and intentional functionality.
We are looking for the right person to keep our new space beautiful. The ideal candidate would be capable of daily cleaning tasks (sweeping mopping, cleaning windows, machine washing laundry etc), as well as basic maintenance projects including light carpentry, machine repair, changing lightbulbs, small painting projects etc. The custodian will also be responsible for maintaining and improving the garden and indoor plants. Any related tasks beyond their capacity they would organize for a professional to complete.
The Custodian should be someone who likes to keep busy and can identify needs before being told, but who can also follow direction. They should be able to read, write and follow whatsapp messages and lists. The ideal candidate is comfortable multitasking and is not afraid to ask questions. We are looking for someone who sees even their smallest decisions as relevant to building an equitable work environment and a better world and wants to be a part of a positive and respectful working environment.

- Daily cleaning as well as weekly and monthly deeper cleaning
- Fixing locks, changing lightbulbs, repairing window screens
- Machine washing of common linens (curtains, kitchen towels etc)
- Coordinating pick up of garbage and recycling
- Painting and light repairs as needed
- Sweeping of compound and maintenance of the garden
