Discover Osei-Duro’s collection of ethical and sustainable clothing. Handmade slow fashion designed for a conscious wardrobe.
Have you heard our elevator pitch? Maybe now is the time. We like to say that an Osei-Duro garment should be one you can wear to a ceremony, then to the afterparty, then sleep in it on a friend’s couch, and then wear to breakfast the next morning. Comfortable and confident in all of these venues, and you know it’s a good outfit.
You may or may not ask yourself from time to time, as we do, what is not design? Is design not just putting intention behind some action, some creation? What do we do that we do not intend to do? Ok, breath perhaps. Sometimes speak, that is certainly true. But most of our more complicated actions, how we move through each day, must have some design behind them. I know, this is getting pretty heady for an e-comm fashion blurb but stay with me. I design my breakfast. I design my outfit for the day. I design my schedule even. How I move. If I am in some circumstance where I can’t design these things, someone else does.
I design therefore I am doesn’t seem like thaaat much of a stretch when we really get thinking about it. And then what is design if not choice? Picking what you want, where you want to spend the limited resources at your disposal. Cause it for sure for sure is a finite world, friends. Can’t have it all. So you have to choose. And if you choose well, you can get a lot. Comfort and style, for instance, you can get those together, we believe. If you choose well you can also get quality, something that lasts long. Something that causes no / less harm, that’s another hallmark of quality. Something that lasts and also allows the world around it to last is something sustainable. Something that can keep going. At this point I’m still talking about breakfast sure, but really, I’m talking about things we decide to buy, often on the internet. Products. Choices about items that people are designing and producing that we are taking into our lives. Dresses. Jumpsuits. Noodles. There are a lot of options for how you design your choices. What you decide to prioritize.
