Steloolive is a fashion and sound performance artist and electronic music DJ from Accra, Ghana, West Africa. As part of his 2021 Artist Residency with Osei-Duro, Steloo used his skills and background to explore ways in which music and fabric can intersect, resulting in an introduction to his debut LP as a wearable representation of the album. 

The Album Garment is a boxy, sculptural, unisex layer that pulls over the head. The Garment has side pockets and pleats at the waist, referencing the traditional West African smock silhouette. There are two generous sizes, with the major difference being the length. This piece is designed to be worn in any number of different ways. The garment is made from a midweight cotton, structured and airy at the same time, and makes a great layering piece or a dramatic stand alone dress.

This collaborative piece is a very limited edition, and comes with special screenprinted packaging created by the artist.

"Usually an album has a track that introduces listeners to the body of work contained on the album; however, and in typical Steloolive fashion, where he’ll rather tread his own path as opposed to following trends or tradition, he chooses to create a wearable garment (instead of a song) as an introduction to the album."

• Caring for your hand crafted batik garment:

  1. Do not wash too frequently unless it is particularly soiled or smelly.

  2. To wash, turn your garment inside out. Preferably hand wash or machine wash cold on a delicate cycle with similar colors. Use a very mild detergent.

  3. Hang to dry. The dye will fade over time from exposure to direct sunlight.

  4. Iron (inside out) on a low heat setting or steam to get rid of wrinkles.

  5. If in doubt, dry clean.
